New Patch mount changes

Postby Jedem » Wed Sep 27, 2006 10:55 am

Not sure how many of you know about the new changes made to mounts. Heres what batta, a blizzard employee has said on the wow forum:

Hello folks,

Recent changes to the requirements for the way in which mounts can be purchased and rode have led to cause for concern and confusion on our forum. For this reason, we'd like to share with you the new developmental changes implemented in Patch 1.12.1.

Firstly, there are no more race-specific riding skills. All rideable mounts currently within the World of Warcraft will require one of the following skills:

Apprentice Riding (75) - Learned for 90 gold (Requires level 40)
Journeyman Riding (150) - Learned for 900 gold (Requires level 60)

"Ch-Ch-Changes" - Due to the change in riding skill requirements and costs, here are the new standard costs of all mounts:

Level 40 mount - 10 Gold
Level 60 mount - 100 Gold
AV epic reward mount - 10 Gold
PvP epic reward mount - 10 Gold

"New Rule" - The following are some general rules that apply to this new change:

The following applies for players who met these conditions prior to realm maintenance on 09/26

As of 1.12.1, players with any riding skill will get Apprentice riding skill.

As of 1.12.1, players with any standard non-epic mount will get Apprentice riding skill.

As of 1.12.1, players with any standard Epic, Rare Drop, or Alterac Valley mount will get Journeyman riding skill.

As of 1.12.1, players with PvP or Wintersaber mounts will get Journeyman riding skill, although the mounts only require Apprentice riding skill.

You have to be level 40 to obtain Apprentice Riding (75), and level 60 to obtain Journeyman Riding (150).

Vendors now do not sell mounts to players of other races unless the player has exalted status with their race.

All Mounts are changed to Bind on Pickup rather than Bind on Use.

"Cause for Concern" - Since we are receiving several petitions raising questions as to the changes and limitations set forth in the new system, here is a breakdown of how things should work:

If you are level 60 and do NOT have an epic mount, you will NOT get 150 riding skill.

If you are level 60 and you DO have an epic mount, you DO get 150 riding skill

If you are level 59 (or below) and you DO have an epic mount, you will NOT get 150 riding skill.

If you are level 60 and the ONLY mount you have is a standard AQ mount, you will NOT gain any riding skill.

Warlocks and Paladins will automatically learn the appropriate riding skill level when they complete their mount questlines.

Here is a breakdown of the mounts available in game listed by the skill necessary to ride them:

* Even though these mounts only require 75 skill to ride, a player will be given 150 skill if they had it previous to 1.12.1. These mounts additionally all move at a 100% speed increase, although they do not require the 150 Journeyman riding skill.

** These mounts all move at a 100% speed increase, although they do not require the 150 Journeyman riding skill.

What this means is that I am screwed out of 80g if I still want to get my AV ram.

It also means that if you are lucky enough to have barons mount, the zg tiger or raptor drop you dont get a free epic mount. You have to pay 700g to get epic riding skill. I am now officially pissed. Just wanted to share with those of you who didnt know about this since the patch notes dont explain anything about this.

Yeah, we had a big controversy yesterday about if Pallies and Locks got the riding skill with their questlines (since god forbid we'd actually read the forums).

I think it's stupid that you have to pay so much to get the riding skill, but it's also cool because once you get that riding skill, it is much more affordable to get more than one different mount (a person from SoW made commander yesterday and got every mount for really cheap when she expected to pay a lot more)

But why would you want more then one epic mount? All I wanted was an epic ram but the IF rep was killing me so I decided to get the AV one because it was cheaper and the rep is easier to get. But now its barely cheaper then the IF rep and I have to save up another 80g more then I would have before this dumb patch. :(

Hell, i'm thinking of getting an epic horse. Why the hell not?

But then I already have the riding skill. So i don't have to spend a lot for it.

Well, you should have gotten it before the patch instead of slacking off with your hunter and your warlock :P

Mind telling me how I can grind over 500g in less then a week? Because I only got exalted with AV a week and a half ago. Most of last week was spent getting people attuned for MC and getting people started on the ony attunement chain.

Since I usually came out of those runs with alot of durability damage I usually lost whatever money I made from the run. BTW this is the last reply I am gonna make in this thread for a while. I am in a bad mood because of work and this whole thing will just make me worse. :(
